Intercultural dialogue:

BROADCAST MEDIA SCULPTURES gathers cultural operators from 5 European countries, representing extremely diverse cultural traditions within its core activities. On all levels participating artists and cultural operators will co-operate and exchange approaches, experiences and visions across inter-cultural and multi-faith backgrounds. Mass-media and broadcasting media, traditionally, play an important part in the formation of national identities and, hence, the project holds a great potential of yielding artistic examinations on national boundaries, similarities and trans-national visions.

Interdisciplinary:

Playing on radio, TV, New Media, (semi-)public and social spaces as artistic media, the project will gather artists from various backgrounds, such as music, theatre, video, performance and installation art, as well as new and emerging forms operating along the interfaces of art, technology and social studies. While several of the works will be distinctly mixed media, the project on the whole embraces an interdisciplinary approach on all levels of activities, fostering broad participation and creativity and with the implementation of a multi-medial online platform.

MEDIA PLAYGROUNDS:

A trans-European series of one week long events to mobilise artistic and creative approaches among the contributors of 7 local media institutions [community TV (Vienna, Amsterdam), community radio (Vienna, Budapest, London), students TV "Alma Mater" (Sofia) and an online community video platform (Amsterdam)]. The MEDIA PLAYGROUNDS will take place in 5 cities: Amsterdam, Budapest, London, Vienna and Sofia. The playgrounds will research tendencies among media activists, young artistic scenes and students, and work together on the thematic problem and collect proposals, ideas, projects, wishes and dreams among the contributors which might seem “utopic”. Within these one-week long events, the partners will produce some of these researched projects, organise workshops, host presentations and audio- and video performances, and link it all under the motto of creativity and “new and unusual formatting”. The presentation of activities on the CULTURAL INTERFACE will link the locations with each other.
